We welcome you to the Master Craftsmen Shop web site created at the request of many of our shoppers who wanted the ease of shopping at home. It seems that after enjoying our showroom in Williamsburg, Virginia, visitors want to continue to keep in touch with us as occasions such as birthdays, weddings, graduations and holidays approach.
Master Craftsmen Shop was first opened in March 1982. We are now located on North Boundary Street a block behind Merchants Square and a few doors down from Massey’s Camera Shop.
Our bracelets and our jewelry line are made in our upstairs workroom. All of our precious metals and findings are purchased in the USA. Our pewter is hand spun in Richmond, Virginia, and assembled and polished in Williamsburg.
Our bracelets and jewelry are made in our upstairs workroom. All of our precious metals and findings are purchased in the USA. Most of the bracelets are silver but we do offer 14 karat gold and gold filled bracelets. Gold filled wire is made by heat and pressure bonding a thin layer of gold to a brass core. The value of gold filled is greater than gold plated because gold filled has an actual layer of karat gold. 14 karat gold bracelets are not shown on our website but if you call us or email us we will be happy to give you a quote.
When you first put on one of our cuff bracelets gently pull it apart and slip it over your wrist and squeeze it until it feels comfortable. Don’t squeeze or pull the bracelet too much as this back and forth motion could cause some of the smaller bracelets to break. The bracelets are available in a regular adult size but if your wrist is larger than standard we can make a larger size for you. Call us and we will be happy to assist you. Our child size usually fits ages 5 through 9 and infant fits newborn through age 4. We also offer a doll size that fits the American Girl doll but is also purchased for premature babies and newborns to wear the first few months.
Continual wear of silver will help it develop a nice patina that will require little or no care. Should it become tarnished, rub it with a polishing cloth or silver polish and wash it in warm soapy water and rinse. We offer a polishing cloth and silver wash under the cleaning products category.
Our Master Craftsmen pewter line is also made from pewter that is purchased in the USA. Pewter is an alloy composed of at least 90% tin, with smaller amounts of other metals added, mostly copper and antimony. Our pewter is lead free. It may also be used as liquid metal to cast different forms such as handles or ornaments. Our cups, plates and bowls are spun on a lathe where flat circular disks of pewter are forced over a wood or metal chuck. Special tools are used to bend the pewter into the desired shape. Most of our pieces have our “MC” symbol stamped on them.
Since 1985 we have designed a new angel ornament for our pewter ornament collection. In 2009 we began adding a new Santa ornament. Our ornament collection also includes a wide variety of animals.
Pewter does not tarnish the way silver can tarnish. Like all metals, pewter does oxidize when exposed to air but it does it very slowly and evenly. It has a very low melting point and should not be brought in direct contact with a source of heat. After each use, hand wash your pewter in warm soap and water and follow with a good towel drying. Do not put your pewter in the dishwasher or use it as a food storage container. Always line your pewter with glass or plastic if you intend to use it for plants or flowers. There are pewter polishes available if needed.
We offer both in-house engraving which is done on a pantograph and hand engraving. If you prefer hand engraving please call us at 800-866-7458 and we will be happy to help. We work with a very talented Master Engraver. Engraved items may take 2 to 5 days to process. Please allow a couple of extra days during holidays and graduations.
The Master Craftsmen Shop will accept exchanges or returns for items purchased within 30 days of purchase. This does not include items that are engraved.
There is a 90 day guarantee on products made by the Master Craftsmen Shop. During that period if there should be breakage, we will repair or replace the item at no charge. After the 90 day period we are not responsible for any breakage, or wear and tear, though we will repair the product, if possible, for a fee.
